Literary lounge "Melody of Three Strings", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Gerold Belger

Students of Kozybayev University honoured the memory of Gerold Belger. Gerold Karlovich Belger is a famous writer, translator, publicist, literary critic, public figure. He translated into Russian and Kazakh languages more than 220 works, became the author of 53 books. His creative and public merits have been repeatedly honoured with many awards: the Presidential Award for Peace and Spiritual Harmony, the Order "Parasat" and others.

As a result of the forced relocation of Germans in 1941, Gerold Belger was deported with his parents to the North Caucasus region. From the age of seven, he grew up in a Kazakh village and graduated from a Kazakh school. He spoke three languages fluently. He was concerned with the fate of the country, the interaction of ethnicities and cultures within it, and the development of the state language. The writer's works cover the periods of the Second World War and independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This was recalled at the event organised by the ANK Chair. Students learnt about G.Belger's life, read excerpts from his works, performed musical compositions and talked about what makes his legacy so important. Representatives of ethno-cultural associations of the North Kazakhstan regional Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan took part in the literary lounge.

"Today we remember the life and work of Gerold Belger, a man who, despite all the difficulties, was able to become a link between peoples. His legacy lives on in his books, translations and reflections. Gerold Belger is a representative of three cultures - German, Kazakh and Russian, a man with a big and open soul.  He truly became a German son of the Kazakh people", - concluded the hosts of the evening.
