Improving the prospects for the sugar beet industry in the region

The development of sugar beet production cluster in the northern region of the country was the main topic for discussion at the meeting of Kozybayev University management with Arman Evniev, head of YEVNIY consulting group, and Laila Tabynbayeva, head of the sugar beet laboratory of the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Industry. Key aspects of the Investment Programme for the construction of a sugar beet factory in Northern Kazakhstan were presented, which opens up new prospects for the development of this industry in the region.

It is gratifying that this topic is close to the scientists of our university. In 2021-2023 on the basis of Agrotechnopark Kozybaev University was implemented research project KazNIIZIR on ecological variety testing of domestic and foreign hybrids of sugar beet in the conditions of Northern Kazakhstan.  Teachers of the Agronomy and Forestry Department Elmira Kantarbayeva and Svetlana Puchkova with their students developed practical recommendations for the development of sugar beet production in the region. As a result, managed to identify hybrids that are most adaptive to SKO conditions in terms of yield and sugar content.
