Modern educational infrastructure plays a crucial role in training qualified teaching professionals.
For many years, Kozybayev University has been preparing special education teachers and primary school educators. Starting this year, students can pursue these fields with an emphasis on inclusion through a dual-degree program with the University of Arizona.
To support this initiative, the university has opened a new Inclusive Education Center. The center is equipped with sensory integration and rehabilitation tools, resources for working with children with special educational needs, and assessment systems for speech development, behavior correction, and school adaptation.
The equipment was provided under the "Modernization of Secondary Education" program by the Higher and Postgraduate Education Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, with financial support from the World Bank.
The center features over 36,000 specialized items, including: educational toys and musical instruments, didactic materials for fine motor skills development, visual aids for speech development, soft play modules, tactile paths, and a dry ball pool ,balancing spheres and other sensory tools computers, laptops, and other digital learning tools. The center consists of multiple zones: a sensory room for stimulating various sensory systems, an individual correctional session area , a speech therapy section ,a dedicated learning space.
While primarily designed for students from the Department of Primary, Preschool, and Special Education, the center is also open to all Kozybayev University students with special educational needs.
This new facility will enhance hands-on learning opportunities for students and better prepare future specialists to modernize inclusive education in the region’s schools.
