Opening of the Joint China-Kazakhstan Livestock Laboratory

Kozybayev University has been developing a strategic partnership with Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), one of China's leading scientific and educational institutions, for more than seven years. Renowned for its cutting-edge research in innovative agricultural technologies and water resource management, NWAFU is a key partner in strengthening scientific and educational potential.

The collaboration between the two universities has already yielded significant results. Dual-degree programs for master's students have been launched, academic exchange programs have been expanded, and joint research in agricultural crop variety testing is actively being conducted. Additionally, a Center for Agro-Competence has been established at Kozybayev University, serving as a platform for integrating advanced knowledge and technologies. A new milestone in this partnership is the opening of a joint China-Kazakhstan livestock laboratory, based at NWAFU. The official inauguration ceremony took place as part of the visit of the North Kazakhstan delegation to China, with the participation of the regional Akim, highlighting the importance of this project for the region.

For Kozybayev University, this collaboration opens up vast opportunities. It is aimed at developing innovative educational programs, strengthening research collaborations, and addressing key challenges in the agricultural sector. Joint projects in plant breeding, animal genetics, and water resource management will facilitate the implementation of advanced technologies in North Kazakhstan's agriculture. The expected outcomes include increased crop yields, enhanced livestock productivity, and improved water resource management, which are critically important for the region.

During the visit, the delegation also explored an innovative greenhouse in Yangling, where NWAFU showcased its latest advancements. Furthermore, the regional Akim met with Kazakhstani doctoral students studying at NWAFU, underscoring the significance of academic mobility and the development of human capital in agricultural science. This new collaboration with NWAFU represents a crucial step in strengthening the scientific and educational potential of North Kazakhstan, addressing both local and global agricultural challenges.
