Kanash Shakenov: Honoring the Memory of the Rector

Our university carefully preserves the memory of those who have made a significant contribution to its development. One such figure was the outstanding scholar, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Kanash Shakenov. For 18 years (from 1969 to 1987), he served as the rector of the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute named after K.D. Ushinsky.

Kanash Shakenovich made an invaluable contribution to the dynamic growth of the university: infrastructure was improved, academic buildings were constructed, three dormitories were built, along with Sports Hall No. 1 and residential buildings for staff. The academic qualification level of the teaching staff also increased significantly during his tenure.

For the second year in a row, the university has hosted a volleyball tournament among the faculty and staff of Kozybayev University in memory of K. Sh. Shakenov. This time, eight teams from different faculties, the military department, and the administrative staff competed for victory over three days. The prize fund for the competition, amounting to 300,000 tenge, was provided by Kanash Shakenov's relatives.

As per tradition, the main contender for the gold medal was the team from the Pedagogical Faculty. Their main rivals were the athletes from the military department. The semifinal matches were intense, with both teams playing almost equally. However, in the final, the Pedagogical Faculty's volleyball team secured a confident victory!

3rd  place – Administrative and Managerial Staff

All winners received medals, certificates, and cash prizes. Congratulations!
