Scientific and Technological Session on Solving Problems in the Agro-Industrial Sector

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC "Science Fund," and Kozybayev University organized a scientific and technological session on the development of agro-industrial enterprises in Northern and Central Kazakhstan.

The seventh scientific and technological session this year brought together scientists, experts, representatives of agricultural enterprises from Central and Northern Kazakhstan, as well as partners from Germany and China at Kozybayev University to address key challenges and implement innovations in the agro-industrial sector.

"Scientific and technological sessions, held by order of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, O.A. Bektenov, issued at the Higher Scientific and Technical Commission, serve as a strategic tool for achieving several key state-level objectives. Firstly, they help develop new mechanisms for determining priority areas in scientific and technical activities. Secondly, these sessions enable the effective resolution of specific requests and needs of the real economy, creating a platform where scientists and manufacturers work together to develop innovative solutions. A key aspect of this format is that it enhances cooperation between science and business, promoting the commercialization of projects aimed at producing new, export-oriented products. This is precisely the result needed to strengthen Kazakhstan's economic competitiveness on the international stage," noted Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The North Kazakhstan region has potential, and the university serves as its scientific and academic center.

"For us, this is a very important event, considering the sectoral specifics of the region. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan took the initiative to bring together science, manufacturers, and experts. This is necessary, first and foremost, because technologies in agriculture are rapidly developing. Many enterprises are emerging that seek to improve their technologies, productivity, and adopt organic farming approaches. Undoubtedly, this cannot be achieved without science and breakthrough research. Therefore, today's task is to identify the problems faced by companies directly engaged in agricultural production and find solutions together with scientists. We are very grateful to have scientists from China, the USA, and Germany here today. This is a productive platform for networking, discussions, and achieving great results," said Erbol Isakayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector.

As a result of the scientific and technological session, key problems were identified, main directions for innovation and improvement in the agro-industrial sector were outlined, and priority scientific and technical tasks and future research topics were determined for further commercialization. Among them are solutions for the agro-sector: water resources and irrigation systems; continuous soil analysis and factors for improving grain cultivation; automation of grain storage and management at fodder preparation bases and optimization of feed preparation processes using AI; breeding and seed production; agro-industrial administration.

Participants also visited the production facilities of the dairy plant KT "Zenchenko and K," LLP "AVAGRO," and LLP "Raduga."

The discussion and development of solutions involved representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, including Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Gauyez Nurmukhambetov, Akim of the North Kazakhstan region; Erbol Taszhurekov, Vice Minister of Agriculture; Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Atameken Agro"; Olga Hunger, Area Director for Eastern Europe and head of the German-Kazakh Agricultural Policy Dialogue project (APD, German Ministry of Food and Agriculture); and Jiang Zhongliang, Professor at the College of Animal Science and Technology, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (China).
