Kozybayev University Team Wins 4 Medals
Students of Kozybayev University brought home four medals from the 35th Winter Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Athletics, held in Astana. The competition featured athletes from 18 regions of the country competing in running events, jumps, throws, combined events, and relays for both men and women. In total, the championship program included 26 individual events and 5 relays.
Our athletes delivered an outstanding performance under the guidance of their mentor, the renowned coach and senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, Alexander Naumov.
Master’s student Nikita Izotov became the national champion in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:52.45. Another student of our university, Kirill Subbotin, finished third in the same event. First-year student Antonina Chernyshova won silver in the 60-meter hurdles, while Arsen Umerzhanov claimed silver in the triple jump (15.31 m). All the athletes study at the Department of Physical Culture and Sports.
The 35th Winter Championship of Kazakhstan is a key stage of the 2026 winter season. Based on the results of the competition, the national team roster will be formed for participation in international events, including the Asian Championships. We hope to see our athletes representing Kazakhstan on the national team.
Congratulations to our track and field athletes on their success! We wish them good health and new sporting achievements!
