Republican Debate Tournament SHYN CUP

The debate movement is actively developing at our university. There are two clubs: Shyn and League of Arguments. Current topics, examined through the lens of reasoned disputes, discussions, and ideological clashes, are finding increasing resonance among students. Our students have repeatedly won prizes in high-level competitions. And now — a new milestone! For the first time, Kozybayev University hosted a major republican debate tournament, SHYN CUP 2025, held in the state language. More than 60 participants from Astana, Karaganda, Semey, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, and Kostanay gathered for the event. The prize fund amounted to 490,000 tenge.

“This intellectual event brought together young leaders striving for change, knowledge, and the development of civic consciousness. SHYN CUP is not just a competition, but a celebration of thought, a space for dialogue, and a platform for true leaders of the new generation!” said Alua Bekbaulova, head of the Shyn debate club at Kozybayev University.

The Youth Maslikhat of the North Kazakhstan Region provided significant assistance in organising the tournament, commissioned by the Department of Internal Policy of the North Kazakhstan Region. The tournament addressed topical social and political issues related to freedom of speech, the development of education, youth policy, ecology, economics, cultural heritage, and other key aspects of modern life. A distinctive feature of SHYN CUP was its unique visual design in the style of World Animation, which added vivid colours and atmosphere. Characters from beloved animated universes served as a backdrop for serious debates, reminding everyone of the importance of balancing wisdom and creativity, tradition and innovation.

After two days of intense debate, the winners of the republican tournament were a mixed team from Astana and Pavlodar, representing the Kyzylzhar faction — Rolan Mukhitjan and Bekhan Zhaksylyk. Congratulations!
