Kozybayev University Expands International Horizons: Launch of Collaboration with a Leading Malaysian University
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Kozybayev University and Universiti Putra Malaysia, one of Malaysia’s leading public universities, located in the state of Selangor. Founded in 1931, the university today comprises 15 faculties and offers programs in engineering, medical and humanities sciences, economics, management, education, languages, and communications. Over 25,000 students study at Universiti Putra Malaysia, including international students from more than 50 countries. In the QS World University Rankings 2026, it is ranked 134th globally.
Representatives from Universiti Putra Malaysia—Dr. Lily Nurliyana Abdulla, Azizol Abdulla, and Suhaimi Pilus—spent a month at Kozybayev University. They delivered lectures to students, participated in seminars, and worked on preparing joint research articles for international scientific journals. The guests are experts in information and distribution systems and telematics engineering. They are ready to continue sharing their knowledge with Kozybayev University students and faculty.
“This is my second visit to your university. Compared to my previous visit, I see significant progress, particularly in students’ knowledge and English proficiency. This time, we also started a major research project with Kainizhamal Iklasova on developing a digital learning model using AI technologies to enhance the flexibility and accessibility of education,” said Dr. Lily Nurliyana Abdulla.
The signing of the bilateral memorandum opens further opportunities for collaboration between the researchers of our universities.
“This is a strong start to our cooperation. Our university is ready to explore the possibility of establishing joint double-degree programs. We already have good examples of such academic collaboration: we currently run five joint double-degree programs with the University of Arizona, USA, and two with Northwest A&F University, China,” said Chairman of the Board–Rector Erbol Issakaev.
The memorandum also provides for the exchange of best practices and innovative experiences, as well as faculty and student exchanges for lectures, visits, internships, and the development of joint research and educational initiatives.
