The Role of Youth in Constitutional Reforms
At the university faculties, with the support of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party, meetings are being held with students dedicated to discussing the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This week, such events took place at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, the Faculty of Economics and Law, and the Agronomy Faculty.
The draft of the new Constitution is not just an updated document. It reflects the maturity of our society and serves as a direct response to citizens’ demands for justice, transparency, and genuine participation in the governance of the country.
In his speech, Acting Secretary of the “Bolashak” branch of the AMANAT party, Alexander Zel, emphasized the role of youth in the constitutional process:
"The new Constitution establishes the rules of life for decades ahead. It is extremely important that the younger generation does not remain a passive observer but consciously participates in the discussion and understands how exactly these norms will function in real life."
During the meetings, a lively dialogue takes place with students, covering issues related to citizens’ rights and freedoms, the updated structure of governance, and youth participation in the socio-political life of the country. Speakers provide detailed explanations of the key changes proposed in the draft Constitution, emphasizing that the initiatives are aimed at improving the political system, building a just society, and strengthening the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms.
It was noted during the discussion that the draft of the new Constitution provides for systemic changes designed to develop democratic institutions, strengthen the balance of powers, increase the accountability of state bodies to society, and reinforce social guarantees.
During the dialogue, young people asked the speakers specific questions and received well-reasoned answers based on legal norms.
