Ashimov Undasyn Baykenovich

Potted biography

He was born on March 21, 1951 in Zerendy village of Kokshetau (at present Akmola) region in a family of the employee.

There was on completing the termination of high school with a silver medal in 1968, he entered to Power faculty of the Kazakh polytechnical institute which was finished in 1973 with obtaining qualification by "Electrical engineer" in «Power supply of the industrial enterprises».

From 1973 to 1975 – the intern researcher of the Kazakh polytechnical institute.

From 1975 to 1978 – the graduate student of Almaty power institute.

From 1978 to 1996 – the senior research fellow, the senior teacher, the head of laboratory, the associate professor, the professor, the first vice-rector of Almaty power institute.

From 1996 to 2000 – the first vice-rector, the vice-rector responsible for instructional work of the Kazakh National technical university.

From 2000 to 2002 – the first deputy chairman of the State Supreme Qualifying Commission of MES RK, and then the State Supreme Qualifying committee.

From 2002 to 2016 – the rector of NKSU named after M. Kozybayev.

He defended the Candidate's dissertation on the dissertational council of Kiev polytechnical institute with a specialization in: 05.17.11 - Technology of refractory and silicate nonmetallic materials in 1978.

He was certified in an academic title «The senior research fellow» by SSQC in 1985.

He defended the doctoral dissertation on the dissertational council of Moscow power institute with a specialization in: 05.09.03-Electrotechnical complexes and systems, including their management and regulation and 05.09.10 – Electrotechnology. The first doctor in science in Kazakhstan with a specialization in "Elektrotekhnologiya"

He was certified in an academic title "The professor" by SSQC of the USSR in 1993.

He was elected the corresponding member by the NAS RK in 1995.

He was elected the member of National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Graduate school in 2000.

He was elected the member of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2004.

He was elected the member of National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2006.

He was elected the member of National Academy of natural sciences in 2009.

He was elected the member of the International Academy of economic sciences in 2011.

The spouse – Ashimova Botagoz Balgayevna, the master of law. The daughter – Ashimova Aygerim Undasynovna, the son – Ashimov Adil Undasynovich.
