Kozybayev University hosted a meeting aimed at developing international cooperation in the field of education and science. Sylvia Chassin and Pauline Michel, representatives of the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures (INALCO), Paris, have arrived to visit us.
INALCO is one of the unique universities in France specializing in the teaching of Oriental, African, Slavic and Asian languages, as well as the study of cultures, societies and civilizations of the respective regions. It was founded in 1669 and initially served as a place of learning Oriental languages for the needs of diplomacy and colonial administration, trade.Currently, there are more than 9,000 students studying here and about 100 languages are taught: Chinese, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Turkish, Hebrew, Russian, Persian and others. Kazakh is also one of the languages studied. INALCO has partnership agreements with educational institutions in more than 100 countries.
The guests were introduced to the rich history, training areas, Kozybayev University campus, and collaboration with the University of Arizona by the Chairman of the Board, Rector Yerbol Isakayev. It is a great honor for us to host representatives of one of the leading universities in France. Your visit is of particular importance — it is an important step in strengthening cultural, educational and scientific ties between our countries and universities. I would like to emphasize your interest in language practice at our university and the region as a whole. Northern Kazakhstan is a territory with a rich history, cultural diversity and warm hospitality. We are confident that this will be an excellent basis for future joint projects, student exchanges and internships," the rector addressed the guests.
In turn, Sylvia Chasen and Polina Mihael, responsible for International Relations at the INALCO Russian Language Department, thanked our university for the warm welcome. They noted that this was their first time in Kazakhstan and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation. Next, the guests answered the questions of the students of ILL (Institute of Language and Literature). Kozybayev University can become a good base of language and pedagogical practice for French students. Our students and undergraduates also have the opportunity to enroll in programs for foreign students at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures.
Our university is open for constructive interaction, joint projects and exchange of experience. We sincerely hope that this visit will be the beginning of a productive long-term cooperation!
