Academic mobility realization procedure

Financing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan

 The Ministry of Education and Science gives out financial resources for those studying by state educational order for education abroad in established limits, which cover living expenses, driveway to the place of education and back, visa and medical insurance expenses of the participant of academic mobility.

 Independent financing

 All expenses are covered by participants independently, including living and transport, visa and medical insurance expenses.

 If financed by the Ministry of  Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there is competition held (grants of Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan are spread only to universities of Europe and USA):

  1. Admission of necessary documents
  2. Consideration of documents
  3. Announcing results of the competition

If financed independently, an interview is held only when it’s necessary.

Necessary documents for participating an academic mobility competition:

  • a questionnaire
  • student’s applications (2 pieces)
  • a passport copy
  • motivational letter (rationale-application) in Kazakh/Russian and English languages
  • 2 recommendation letters in Russian/English languages
  • a reference from the place of studying
  • transcript in 3 languages
  • medical certificate of 082-y form (for those going abroad)
  • certificate of knowledge of languages (English – IELTS, TOEFL; Turkish, Spanish, German, etc. – B2 certificate and higher) if exists
  • 3x4 photos (6 pieces)

 Participants who have highest GPA points (higher than 3.5) and highest points in international language knowledge certificates (IELTS, TOEFL, etc. not lower than B2) get priority in competition for being financed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 Students with GPA not less than 3.5 points and more than 3.0 points  are allowed to participate on the competition for independent financing, on the condition they don’t have marks lower than B-.

 At the next stage Academic Mobility Department centrally sends applications of participants to foreign partner universities for consideration and organization of further enrolment.

 On the base of personal decision of the Participant Academic Mobility Department sends as application to foreign universities for further consideration and enrollment.

 After receiving the documents, if the student is enrolled, foreign partner university sends official confirming invitation letter to M. Kozybayev NKSU.

 Academic mobility coordinator informs the Participant about receiving an invitation letter from foreign partner university by e-mail.

 ECTS program university coordinator forms a 3-side agreement between student, receiving and transmitting universities.

 According to received invitation the Head of the Department or the adviser helps the Participant-nominee with registration and approval of an individual academic plan, which is  being affirmed by the Dean of the Faculty in consultation with AMD.

 If there is the difference in individual academic plans, then Participant-nominee applies for passing the exams with the help of using distance technologies of learning.

 Academic mobility order for student’s further transmission to foreign partner university is given by AMD.

 In case of necessarity of  academic practicing/internship, student applies for doing practice after coming back from studying on the base of the order on sending to academic mobility.

 After studying by academic mobility program in partner university ends after the arrival participant must inform AMD about coming back, provide a transcript and apply for renewal of studying in M. Kozybayev NKSU within 2 days. 

University coordinator records worked-out credits into student’s academic history and into transcript on the base of  mechanism of ECTS credits recalculation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Within 14 days after coming back Participant should provide:

  • Final report – to the Head of the Department
  • Finance Report – to the bookkeeping of M. Kozybayev NKSU (in case of studying at the expense of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan)

  • individual academic plan signed by the Head of the Department and confirmed by the Dean of the Faculty
  • application for Distance Education Technologies
  • a receipt
  • records from orders on directing for studying abroad by DET
